(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kdesu
Severity: wishlist

It would be nice to be able to to have kdesu start with an option to=20
prompt for a username as well as a password. E.g. have a menu item=20
"Konqueror as another user" which comes up with a menu like that for=20
the current konqueror as root but with a username field as well (by=20
calling [say] kdesu -U konqueror.

This is needed where users may have several accounts on a machine but=20
not have root access.

James

Reassigned to new maintainer.
Comment 2 Teemu Rytilahti 2004-08-10 17:52:05 UTC
You can run as different user by using -u switch of kdesu...
Comment 3 Waldo Bastian 2005-01-07 17:24:41 UTC
Yes, but -u requires a name on the command line, it doesn't prompt for one in the dialog.
Comment 4 Oswald Buddenhagen 2010-11-06 14:41:55 UTC
this request didn't get much support during the last decade, so closing it.
