Description Martin Koehn 2005-02-01 13:25:10 UTC
Version: 1.7.2 (using KDE KDE 3.3.2)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: 3.2.2
OS: Linux

Other mail user agents allow to detach an attachment from the mail after saving the attachment to the harddisk. The workaround (moving to drafts-folder, removing the attachment and moving back) is not applicable as several header fields are changed during this process. Further, its not possible to see where the file has been saved.
So, when saving an attachement to disk the user should have the option to either only save the file or to save the file, remove it from the mail and add a hint in the mail with the location on the harddisk.

This feature is important for companies to reduce disk-space and especially backup-space (which is much more expensive!). Especially for a group working in large projects where often large documents are exchanged, this feature can shrink the mailbox significant.

Thank
Martin Koehn

Please check the database before reporting a wish: That's the third "most wanted feature" (link on bugs.kde.org).
