[wish] selectable default spellchecker language for each contact

it would be really nice to be able to set a default spellchecker language individually for each contact.

example:
User1: english
user2: german
user3: some other language

It would definitely be great.  I recently gave Kopete another shot after having used Gaim for a while, and I like its spellchecking facility, only it's stuck with French, which is my KDE locale.  About 30% of my contacts use English with me, so I'd love it if I could set the language on a contact basis.

What bothers me most is that there is absolutely no way of changing the spellcheck language at all. A menu entry like "Settings->Spellcheck language", which shows all available languages/dictionaries, would already be enough for me.
KMail handles this very nicely, I can change the dictionary used with two clicks.

This "contact language" feature is more likely to be implemented in kaddressbook so it would allow automatic language selection not only for chats but also emails etc ...

-> however, a static language selection for users not referenced in Kaddressbook should also be implemented not to force software integration.

I also think that kaddressbook (or the KDE4 component for it) should have a "prefered language" for each contact. If we consider that contacts are at some central place in the desktop, it looks ok to me to put all the data there and avoid partial data duplication for the sake of reducing software integration.

Excellent Idea. Binding it to kaddressbook is even better I think.

I posted this wish https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124500 a few month ago: why not have a language selector just like the keyboard selector applet in KDE? If you like the idea please vote :)

I don't understand... You can choice a language per contact, but that has no effect to nothing... Why do not language choice interfere with spell check setting?

I hope that will be resolved soon

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
