this is a problem with libgphoto2, which caches all files you access from the camera. You will want to report this problem to the gphoto2 developers. I will leave this open for a couple of weeks or till I hear back from you I have reassigned the debian bug report accordingly and notified the submitter. You can close this bug if you wish.
