I've been updating konsole_part and I've notice that when the konsole terminal is open in kate, and then I switch to another desktop and back, the konsole_part is closed.  Rather odd.  I don't have any other version of KDE installed except CVS/HEAD so I can't check if this is normal behavior.
This happens always.

I started kate from a terminal and this is what printed when I switched desktops:
