Description Flavio Castelli 2005-01-20 11:58:16 UTC
Version: 1.2_beta3 (using KDE KDE 3.3.1)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux

It would be very nice to have a tab (like the collection one) for radio streams.
The idea is equal to the itunes radio stream feature: have all internet radio in one tab, separeted by their genre.

Thanks in advance

Agree, a stream directory browser functionality like streamtuner offers would be nice.
Comment 2 Seb Ruiz 2005-06-20 10:31:30 UTC
It would be possible to split the playlist browser into two tabs, however this would create even further clutter amongst the tabs. This is a rather old request, does the new setup in the 1.3 series satisfy your needs?

Admittedly, it does not allow for sorting by genre etc, but does allow adding of streams.

Maybe I commented to the wrong report or should open an own wish: I don't care about having the streams listed under a separate tab but having an iTunes like internet radio listing with categories feeded by public directories instead of the single default "Cool-Streams" folder with that few stations.

Imho they can be presented as folders under "Radio Streams" just fine:

 + Dynamic Playlists
 + Playlists
 - Radio Streams
   - SHOUTcast
     + Alternative
     + Americana
     + Classical
     + Country
     - Electronic
       + Ambient
       + Drum and Bass
       + Trance
       + Techno
   + Xiph
   + Live365
   + basic.ch
   + Google Stations
   + punkcast.com

Yeah I'd love too :) Being able to search for streams without having to use the internet browser, as in iTunes :)

Hmmm... we used to have a stream browser. I wonder why it was removed.

Just putting in my vote and $0.02. Internet radio is a wonderful "disruptive" technology that is rapidly gaining popularity. Amarok would do well to support its use with a nice stream browser and favorite stations system.

Added 20 votes to this bug. Recently I discovered Streamtuner and now I'm using it on a regular basis. It would be great to have the same functionality in Amarok.

I agree with Flavio, having something similar to streamtuner included in amarok would be really cool!
Comment 10 Dennis Gnad 2006-04-10 15:18:29 UTC
I also agree.. especially for one of my friends, who is just not using amarok because this feature is missing .. else, he would prefer it to bmpx iirc

It would also be great if radio streams which transmits meta-data about the songs it is playing can be displayed just the way other songs(mp3) are displayed. An ability to show the artists and title correctly, and also maybe fetch and show the album/cover automatically when the stream is played.

I play sky.fm , and the whole song metadata streamed is showed as the title.

Amarok 1.4.5 (to be released soonish) features a Shoutcast stream directory :)
