Status: RESOLVED WORKSFORME
Severity: normal CC: ws

Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: Linux
Latest Commit: Version Fixed In: 7.5.0
Sentry Crash Report:

Description Charles Reis 2005-01-18 06:39:39 UTC
Version: 0.7.1 (using KDE KDE 3.3.91)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc-3.4.2-6.fc3
OS: Linux

The Image Editor in Digikam won't allow me to save any edited images, either with Save or Save As (in any directory). Instead, it gives an error dialog with the message "Failed to save "..." to album "..."." (using real image and folder names).

I have write permissions to the directories, so I'm not sure why it can't save.

i sent an email yesterday to the mailing lists about this. Copying the text out here:

some users have reported not being able to save images. This is related to this:
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91759

read the discussion in the bugreport to see why digikam is not able to show the images. For 0.7.1 a modification was made, where if the imlib2 file loading fails, then qt/kde imaging system will be used to load the image. But such images can't be saved back. So to ensure that file saving works, make sure your imlib2 installation is correct and its able to load the images (see the discussion for a workaround for this problem for some distros).

Thanks. Your canvas-test program shows black for me, so it seems to be the same problem (which will hopefully be resolved by KDE bug 93359). I can deal with it in the meantime.
