Hi,

pictures downloaded from my digital camera (Canon Digital IXUS 330) have the EXIF Orientation flag set to "6" when I took portrait pictures.

Thumbnails generated of these pictures by Konqueror will not be rotated correctly, unless you ENABLE "use thumbnails embedded in image" in Konqueror's settings.

This happens even (especially) after removing ~/.thumbnails.

I stumbled across this while trying to find out why Digikam was displaying some thumbnails incorrectly rotated. (Bug 88112) It appears that

- if "use embedded thumb" in Konq is ENABLED,
  + Digikam displays thumbs it created itself correctly
  + Konqueror displays thumbs it created itself correctly
  but neither display thumbs of portrait thumbs created
  by the respective other application.

- if "use embedded thumb" in Konq is DISABLED,
  + Konqueror display thumbs it creates itself always in landscape mode,
  + Konqueror displays thumbs created by Digikam correctly,
  + Digikam displays thumbs created by Konq correctly rotated.


This is *very* weird. =;)

After upgrading to KDE 3.4 and removing ~/.thumbnails this seems to work. Closing for the moment, I'll reopen when/if I can reproduce it again.
