As discussed on KDE-PIM 2005/1 with Reinhold and Cornelius, 
WebDAV itself does not provide a way to fetch only the subfolders of a given collection. This is an issue when traversing the server namespace in the GroupDAV resource selection tree (bug 96753) because the client unnecessarily fetches all content items (while it displays only folders).

Dear reporter, the resources handling got redone for KF5 and KF6 based PIM applications.

If you still encounter the issues you had in the past, please report them to the current maintained and updated PIM applications you use
