Description Tristan Miller 2004-11-24 12:24:16 UTC
Version:            (using KDE KDE 3.3.1)
Installed from:    SuSE RPMs

There should be an option in the Tools->Find Messages dialog window to disable searching of message attachments, or at least of binary message attachments. When searching for short text strings, such as "PGP" or "Mary", it's almost inevitable that a number of completely irrelevant messages will show up in the search results simply because the string happened to match a Base64-encoded binary attachment.

I should clarify that this behaviour occurs when searching message bodies. Perhaps this feature request could be implemented by removing "<body>" from the drop-down box and replacing it with the following entries:

<body (excluding attachments)>
<body (including attachments)>
<attachments>

Or perhaps just

<body (excluding attachments)>
<attachments>

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
