Description Erwin Roth 2004-11-21 22:06:21 UTC
Version: 0.6.1 (using KDE 3.3.1, Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 20040412 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.3-r6, ssp-3.3.2-2, pie-8.7.6)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.27-openmosix

Kmenuedit and Kiosktool are great tools, however they should work together better for managing (staged) profiles.

Especially in combination with the kiosktool it would be desirable to be able to hide or also see already hidden menu entries in a profile.

An example: this feature is useful if you have defined for all KDE users a read only default profile, but for certain user profiles you want to hide temporary a menu entry(=application). After one day (e.g. course is over) they should get it back.

Currently you can only delete the entry (if you do it via kmenuedit). And then you have to recreate it from scratch. Even if the actual .desktop file would still exist at it's original location.
If you do the create/delete thing in the current way several times, quite some mess is generated in the config files, which makes it not easier to handle.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, this could certainly use improvement.

KDE 4.1 BETA1

In Gnome i can hide and unhide menu entries without delete them. I miss this option in kmenuedit

I miss this option too. I think that is very useful.
