Screen shot demonstrating the bug
I made some fixes (e.g. bug:91575) which probably solve also this one. Can you give a more detailled explanation how this happens ? And important: are you using "Icons -> Align to grid" ? Can you also check with current CVS ? I haven't really understood the pattern by which this happens, but I'll try to describe a few symptoms that I've observed. And, yes, I am using "Align to grid". - During startup, the icons appear, and then the panel appears. The icons first appear where the panel is going to be, and then after it has appeared, they jump down to get out of the panels way. (which is fine) But then, sometimes, when I mess with the icons on the desktop (move them around, add an icon, remove one, etc.), this jump is undone and the icons jump back under the panel. - In some situations, the icons seem to "scroll" through my desktop, one login at a time, i.e. moving up by one grid position at each login. I would say that this only happens when the symptom above has occurred, but I'm not positive about that. - Sometimes, the desktop seems to be too big for its window, and I can scroll it around by dragging the mouse. (i.e. drap open a selection rectangle, drag it to the bottom of the screen, and the whole desktop will scroll away.) It seems to be there's as much "extra" as the panel is taking up at the top. I can't recall whether this has ever happened with 3.3.x. I'm sorry to say that I don't have the time to check with current CVS. Thanks for the details. According to this I would say this is fixed for 3.4. (except the last point which is a dup of 40418) If you still encounter this problem once you have upgraded to 3.4, please reopen this bug. Bug closed. Kdesktop is no more mantained. |
