The audio/m3u mimetype is not present in KDE. It can be found for example in the streams directoy of the Icecast website:

Please check that the mimetype is in the freedesktop.org mime database, as KDE4 is supposed to switch to that database.

Same as bug #116889: it's too late to make the change in KDE 3.5 and we won't control this anymore for KDE 4.

I searched for it in the freedesktop.org mime database XML file, and there is no 'audio/m3u' mimetype in it.

It would be nice if you could report it, see the section 
"Shared MIME database package" of:
http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Standards_2fshared_2dmime_2dinfo_2dspec
