Attachements with a "Content-Disposition: attachment" are correctly shown as icons below the mail text.

But if you chose the image directly via the MIME tree, it would be cool if they were displayed "inline" (ie. in the message viewer) instead of the symbol.  If that's against some kind of guidelines at least a link "Show image" which then displays the image inline would be useful (similar to the "This mail contains HTML, show it" link).

That would save a bunch of clicks and startup times for external apps for mails containing many images.

This could of course be extended for any file for which a kpart is avilable.

I guess this is a duplicate of bug/wishlist of No. 78755. I'll send my votes to that bug; this message is you to be aware of it. :-D

Nope, this wish is very different; I'm not completely opposed to wish 78755 (showing HTML mail without external references per default) though the first thing I would do is to switch it off.  Still I would like to see the images when I select them in the MIME tree when I explicitly select them.

Please extend this wish to other mime types. I would prefer to see PDF, DOC and SXW documents inline like in Konqueror with KParts.

Fixed in KDE 4.4, images are displayed inline if the message stucture viewer entry is clicked.
