Description Scott Nelson 2004-10-28 16:59:18 UTC
Version: 1.7.1 (using KDE 3.3.1, Arch Linux)
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.2
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.8.1

The system tray icon does not show that I have unread messages until I open up the main window. Once I have done that, the count is correct.

I'm using IMAP to another system (running Redhat 7.2).

This is true for me as well. I recently switched from pop3 to imap and that is when the problem first showed up. I'm using kde 3.3.2 from konstruct on debian linux. Normally switching focus to kmail seems to update the system tray icon into showing the count of new mail, however I'm testing that now and even that isn't updating the systray icon.

happenes to me too. also with imap.
there was no problem back when I used pop3.
happenes both in kde 3.3 (debian) and 3.4 (kubuntu).

Yes, I have the same problem, (kmail-1.7, kmail-1.8)
also only with imap, pop3 is OK.

I think this is resolved now in kmail 1.10.0. I tested it with svn r854573. I sent a new email to myself using another client and having kmail docked to the system tray and configured to check the imap account for new email every 1 minute. After one minute, the system tray icon was correctly updated to show that there is one new mail.

It works for me also.
