Hi.  I received a report through the Debian BTS (#271495) that hyphenation in KWord wasn't working -- the user switched it on in the KWord settings but this had no effect.

After some hunting about it seems the correct way to enable hyphenation for the current document is to select the entire text, then edit the font properties.  IMHO, although this is certainly more flexible than a global or even a document level setting, this might be a little unintuitive, especially if a user has already found the default document hyphenation settings and so has stopped searching elsewhere.

It seems to me that the user could easily miss the fact that the kword settings are for new documents only.  What I'm suggesting therefore is that, when a user switches on automatic hyphenation in the kword settings, that a message is displayed advising them that this will affect new documents only, perhaps along with a pointer to the font effects tab in the font dialog if they wish to change the current document.
