This is only the case for certain PDF documents. Some I have that take a long time to render where created with Adobe 6 tools and contain many images, stuff I create with Latex usually is rather quick. Here is an example that takes long: http://www.sts.tu-harburg.de/teaching/ws-04.05/ltooad/slides/08 - oo libraries and extensions.pdf. this file is very slow, it was created using Adobe 6 Here is one that is rather quick: http://www.sts.tu-harburg.de/~se.bossung/pdf/bossung03-schema_mapping.pdf even pages with many more bitmaps than in the first PDF (like page 39) render in under 5 seconds. This file was created using dvips and ps2pdf. Could you try Okular? The performance should be quite better. No answer for years. |
