Hi, I think the IM online/offline status indicator is quite counterintuitive. At first I even thought I couldn't directly send an IM to the sender of an e-mail until I noticed that this functionality is "hidden" in the context menu of the e-mail address instead of the "online" text. In my opinion it would be much better to make the status (both the text label and the icon(s)) clickable, that is just like in KAddressBook where I can click the _relevant_ widget to launch a chat. This is much more logical than fiddling with the *e-mail* address.
Nonetheless, I'm really glad to have this feature at all. Please keep up the excellent work.

This seems to be implemented now (KDE 3.4), but the feature could be improved. (If necessary I'll open a new report.)

When I move the mouse over the online status, the "link" location in the status bar shows "im:aAavhwGAG" (or something like that) which is suboptimal. Couldn't that be somewhat more verbose? If not, then it would probably be better to remove it, since it's unwanted debugging output at best.

Furthermore, for a kopete metacontact only one icon is shown. For example for a contact that has both jabber and ICQ, only jabber is shown. (It's probably because this is my preferred protocol.) It would be better to show all available protocols and make each icon a "link" to the respective contact (that is, send a message over the chosen protocol).

Apart from that, thanks for implementing this ;-)

Fixed in KDE4. The status bar now displays "Work online".
