Description Lars 2004-09-28 17:18:36 UTC
Version: 1.4.0 (using KDE 3.3.0-2.2.rh73.kde, Red Hat Linux release 7.3 (Valhalla))
Compiler: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.3 2.96-113)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.20-28.7

I'd like to plan the time for a session's tasks before I start them. Therefore it would be fine if I could assign a time budget to a task. The budget should be valid for the current session. When the budget has been used up, karm should notify me about it, e.g. by an acoustic signal or pop-up window.

Thanks for your report!

This is a requirement for interfacing with other programs such as Task Juggler and Planner (which is on the 3.4 feature plan), so it will be in the 3.4 release.

Why? IMHO it is not necessary to interface with Task Juggler and Planner. I strongly agree with Lars. In each session, user can optionally specify an amount of time for the completion of that task. This can be done for the whole session time as well. While using karm, next to the Total Time column, there would be a progress bar indicating what percent of that task is accomplished so far. Wouldn't it be nice?

I am willing to implement this feature. What do you think?

Yes - join us at irc.kde.org, channels #kde-devel or #kontact!
I think the biggest danger is bloating the GUI with such stuff. If you do not do this, we will be very happy about the patch. Please note that there is no more feature development for KDE 3.5. Build KDE 4 first - described at http://wiki.kde.org/tiki-index.php?page=KDE3To4
Comment 4 Thorsten Staerk 2007-02-25 07:23:45 UTC
I am not really willing to implement this.
