I think it would be a really useful feature to have a timeout on the sticky keys. This might help in 2 different cases:

1)I am a reasonable typist, but often find that I lift my finger off the shift-key slightly too early when typing a symbol such as '>'. 

I am doing the following:
   (i)   Right-hand-finger5 press right-hand shift
   (ii)  Right-hand-finger5 release right-hand shift
   (iii) Right-hand-finger2 press '.>'
   iv)   Right-hand-finger2 release '.>'
whereas of course ii,iii are in the wrong order! 

Sticky keys is a great help here, but coupled with my other bad habit of sometimes pressing shift while "thinking", and then releasing it (much like a chess player when debating a move!), I often find that I get spurious caps.

I'd like to set a sticky key timeout of about 50ms.


2)DVD players such as Xine fake a "shift" keypress every minute to prevent the screensaver activating. This leaves the shift key stuck down. It also causes KDE to beep once a minute while the movie is playing! 


It would also be nice to have the option of disabling the "beep"  that sticky keys emits.

I also recently crashed my system this way: I wanted Ctrl-Backspace, and I got 
Ctrl-Alt-Backspace! Oops!
Perhaps sticky keys shouldn't stick that particular combination?

Sticky keys are a feature provided by the X server, KDE only turns it on. Please direct your requests at the X developers.

If they implement the feature request, then perhaps KDE will be able to add the GUI.
