Description Stephen Reindl 2004-08-20 15:33:52 UTC
Version: 1.7 (using KDE KDE 3.3.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
Compiler: binary package used
OS: Linux

I want to create a sound event on new mails. The sound file is a .WAV file that is played fine with xmms but does not play with kmail.

Sound file that's not played

This is the affecting sound file... The output from the file command says:

MontyPython.wav: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, MPEG Layer 3, mono
11025 Hz
Comment 2 Stephen Reindl 2004-08-24 09:57:55 UTC
It should be probably arts, because this problem is not related to kmail itself, therefore please move this issue to arts ...
Comment 3 Tom Albers 2004-09-07 17:09:31 UTC
as requested.
Comment 4 Allan Sandfeld 2004-12-02 04:02:13 UTC
This could be fixed if akode detected non-PCM wavs and loaded the appropiate plugin instead.
Comment 5 Ismail Donmez 2005-01-14 17:23:13 UTC
Is this a wish or a bug?
Comment 6 Stephen Reindl 2005-01-14 19:39:31 UTC
This is a bug, because the correct audio type is not detected for this file.
Comment 7 FiNeX 2009-08-26 11:25:41 UTC
This bug is still reproducible in KDE 4 trunk. Is still akodelib the correct component for this bug?
Comment 8 Christoph Feck 2011-09-19 12:25:00 UTC
This component has been replaced with Phonon in KDE 4. If this issue still needs to be addressed, please add a comment, or report it for Phonon.
