It's all the same bug *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 80717 *** I don't think this is duplicate... Whether or not AIM contacts appear online or can communicate with a Kopete/ICQ account, Kopete/ICQ having the effect of deleting contacts it doesn't understand properly from the SSI is a much worse bug, and I think is higher priority than getting ICQ->AIM user support fully implemented. Imagine an ICQ user who uses a Windows machine with ICQ Pro and a bunch of AIM buddies at work, but otherwise uses only ICQ, and prefers to run Linux at home. He doesn't care about contacting AIM buddies when he's not working, but if he did, it would be no problem, since he's running Kopete. However, he's not to happy that when he goes to work the next day after running Kopete/ICQ at home, all of his AIM buddies have been deleted from his contact list. Sure, he can work around it by using two messengers at work, but this will extra hassle for him, and rebuilding his deleted contact list might be quite difficult. I say this because this is almost the case with my roomate. He uses MSN and AIM, AIM exclusively for work contacts - he has about 50 of them across many departments, and works at a very large wireless provider corporation. He uses MSN at home and work for his personal friends. If he used ICQ instead of MSN, this dilemma would be his. I still think this is a duplicate. Being able to message AIM contacts from an ICQ account requires them being able to be used from Kopete. Since I renamed the other bug, I'll be marking this one as a duplicate, since as a sort of unspoken rule, the older one is the one that stays open. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 80717 *** oh, oops. I can't read. |
