Description Sebastien CELLES 2004-06-18 12:02:15 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.2)
Installed from: RedHat RPMs

Hello,

I write you because I think you should add
Tools\Log as root in Konqueror
Now, it 's difficult to run Konqueror as root.
I must run a console
su
mypassword
run Konqueror (inside the console)

so I think it will be a very good feature...

An other good feature could be to "Unlog". (return to normal user mode)

I would like to say that I'm not using Kde as desktop but Gnome (in FC2) so
I can't use Menu K > File Manager as root.

Moreover with such a feature (Tools\Log as root... in Konqueror) you could easily change user (su or user) without changing directory... (because now I need to restart Konqueror when I switch to su... so I lose my current directory)

Thanks

Obviously it's not the current window that can become root, that's technically impossible.
Tools / "File Manager as Super User" or whatever would open a new window.
But the gain compared to the K menu entry would be that it opens in the current directory, indeed.

it will also be a good solution...

BUT

in order not to do mistakes between the 2 konqueror windows (su and user), the konqueror root windows should have a red title bar...
