Description Gunter Ohrner 2004-05-23 15:55:02 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.2)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

With only 256 MB RAM my laptop seems to be somehow underequipped for using Quanta...

Quanta with 3 small html files open after some time running:
11601 gunter 15 0 167m 117m 36m S 0.3 46.9 38:09.67 quanta

117 MB RSS... That caused some significant paging on my system...

Additionally Quanta uses 100% CPU for an extended period of time after evrey tiny change made to the document. That dosn't really help to make the work with Quanta feel fluent.

I'm I doing something wrong here?

Greetings,

  GUnter Ohrner

Hi,

The bug (excessive memory usage) was discovered after 3.2.2 was
released. With certain documents you could quickly run out of memory
and swapping slows down the whole machine quite a bit. The fix will be
in 3.2.3.

Andras

Hello Andras, I'm using Quanta+ 3.2.3 under KDE 3.2.3 (SUSE Linux 9.1) and I still have the problems described here. System load nearly 100% when typing texts in Quanta. My machine: AMD 1600, 1 GB RAM. Yours, Klaus
