The same problem occurs in KDE3.2.2 in slackware-current (as of 26 May 2004) Same problem occurs in KDE 3.2.3 in Debian (testing), as of 8 August, 2004 I had the same problem in 3.2.2 (Kmail 1.61) using Mandrake 10.0 Official. A google search found someone who had come up with a solution (of a sort). You had to go into Settings, Configure Kmail, chose Network, then in Sending add a new outgoing account. When prompted to chose between SMTP & Sendmail, choose Sendmail & accept the defaults. Then move the new Sendmail outgoing account up to the top Default position. Click OK until you are back out of Settings. Now Send Queued Messages. You will get an error message. Now go and delete the messages in the Outbox. Then go back into Settings and move your original default outgoing account back up into the top Default position. You can remove the Sendmail outgoing account. Click OK until you are out of Settings. You should now be able to send mail again. Obviously not an ideal solution. Please try the options mentioned in bug 73316. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 73316 *** IMO this is not a duplicate of 73316. 73316 = Kmail cannot send email - problem sending email because of some various issues. 80706 = UI issue: Kmail does not by default give useful info why it cannot send email. Being able to identify the offending emails AND the corresponding error messages (from mailserver or Kmail) would be very useful. |
