Sentry Crash Report:

Description Hendrik Kueck 2004-04-28 10:01:34 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.2)
Installed from: Mandrake RPMs

The Automake manager is really useful and well designed overall. Excellent work!
However, the 'add existing files' dialog makes me cringe whenever I use it.
I am sure there are tasks where completely new and 'innovative' user interfaces can be of great benefit.
However, the task of selecting a bunch of files is not one of them. Standardization is a good thing here.
It took me much much longer than it should have to figure out how to use the 'add existing files dialog'.
And even now selecting files using the existing dialog is so annoying, that I often load up the Makefile.am in the editor instead.
The drag'n'drop idea is kind of nice, but really not too helpful.
As another bug report already mentions, the filter option does not currently work.
There is no option to select a textual view. With the large icons that the dialog uses and the default dialog size,
only 4 (!) files are displayed at a time!

So my wish is: Please replace this UI experiment with a standard KDE multi-file selection dialog.

YES!!

That dialog is horrible. It's nonstandard and crashprone. It must die.

This is already in the TODO file, btw. It just needs someone to do it.. :)
