I have a desktop background which is very white, I would like to change the text color of  the names of my desktops so I can read them more easily.  I would only like the change the color for this virtual desktop applet, not the whole system.  Thanks for taking my suggestion, keep up the great work.

the pager drawing has changed recently so that it's much more readable. if you have transparency turned on and have made the pager applet transparent and have a background it doesn't work with, well, there's not much we can do about that.  it should work with a white BG now, however.
