Ark doesn't open tar.gz-files. I get the Message: Program not in PATH. Please install it or ask your administrator.

The programs tar and gzip ar in /bin.

I also tried symlinks to usr/local/bin.

/usr is in PATH. Output from echo $PATH:

surfer@mathis:/home/oli$ echo $PATH
/home/surfer/.dist/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/games:.

With kio-plugin in Konqueror I can browse the tar.gz.

Opening zip-files works.
