Description Kjetil Kjernsmo 2004-04-19 22:16:20 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.1)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

I'd like KDE to just pass control keystrokes to the underlying application in certain situations, without even trying to interprete them.

I'm rather uncertain if it is appropriate to submit this against kcontrol, but I believe it would be best implemented there along with the keyboard shortcuts, so I hope you can forgive me if I'm totally off.

Well, basically, the reason I want this is that I've spent a lot of time getting my keyboard shortcuts in Emacs into my fingers, in fact, Emacs is the only application where I really use the keyboard extensively, as opposed to pointing and clicking.

So, instead of configuring all the KDE shortcuts to not conflict with my Emacs shortcuts, it would have been really great if I could just tell KDE to not intercept C-whatever, M-whatever etc, but pass that right over to Emacs and let Emacs handle it.

It would be great if this was configurable on a per-application basis, so that when that application has focus, KDE will not intercept control keys.
