*** Bug 78783 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 84061 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I noticed a couple other requests were marked as duplicate of this one. I don't know if it really makes a difference, but I would encourage other reporters to consider adding their votes for this feature request. I would love to see it implemented. http://bugs.kde.org/votes.cgi?action=show_user&bug_id=78955 Thanks. dapawn *** Bug 87662 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Hopefully this would work with non-KDE apps also, like OpenOffice and java apps. All I want is a "Copy html" option in konq. Simple to implement, and it would save me (and other web devs) SO much time. True, images wouldn't come over, but that can be addressed later as we move along the path to a rich inter-application clipboard. edrex i've found out that The Text is copied to the clipboard as formatted text but kword 1.41 b1, can't handle formatted clipboard text! Try this: 1. copy from the above table: "Additional Comments" 2. open OpenOffice.org 3. Paste the copied clipboard content 4. you can see that OpenOffice can get Bold and normal text properly, though the table is not created! 5. open kword 6. paste the clipboard content, you'll get 'plain text' clipboard content (which is actually formatted in the clipboard, though not perfectly) I can copy tables and images to swriter. I should have known earlier :-) Still, bad that I can't paste HTML to a new file or to KDE apps. I have the same problem in Konqueror 3.5 Select web page with table Select the table - copy paste it to kwrite - here you can see, that all "tabs" are removed so this text can not be pasted as "table" to any application (oocalc2 (OpenOffice) etc). Works perfect in Firefox and Mozilla. Created attachment 14162 [details]
kword, ooowriter 2.0.1, konqueror...
Step, as you write of Kwrite, it is worth considering that this app is designed specifically for simple edition of plain text documents, like eg. the vim. The case is different as regards the eg. Kmail mail composer. I cast my vote for this. b. Bartosz, you missed my point. <b>"you can see, that all "tabs" are removed</b>. This was just a example, that format information, like "tab" is lost and replaced with "space". Sadly, the most useless crap, like text style, font style are still there and can be "removed" by "Paste Special" - "Unformated text" or by Kwrite etc type of applications. If you want your document look like crap, use more that 2 fonts. ;) I work with doc's every day. 999 times out of 1000 I have to use "Paste Special" - "Unformated text" so I do not frell up the current document with text formats from another doc or web page. (or paste to kwrite, and then to doc so it removes most of the useless format info). Because Konq can not copy "tab" (table cell from html page) I have to use Firefox. But if use Konq, I get loads of other useless hidden junk from web page. Good example is value="blah". Why, WHY! do i need this in text copy/paste? Sorry, but select/copy text (from web page to doc) is absolutely useless in Konqueror. To avoid most of this, I have to use this ugly looking (GTK+) FF so I can actually get some work done. :) Regarding that comment on copy-paste including hidden junk: Please file a separate bug report with a URL when that happens. Also, I'd say suggests improvements to plaintext copy-paste should be filed as separate bug reports... Heck, this bug report is ultra-general: I think konqueror can actually copy HTML now, AFAIK, but some apps can't paste. For stuff to be fixable, there need to be specific bug reports to specific applications to their developers can fix them. Please allow paste html to function in KMail, I don't like having to keep thunderbird around so I can paste database schemas copied from phpmyadmin to my boss all the time. Thanks George I changed the component of this bug to clipboard. Due to its oldness it maybe that this bug is fixed, can anyone confirm this? This is not a bug that can be done by klipper. The resultant app needs to process mimeData correctly. If there are specific issues that needs to be addressed there. |
