I make extensive use of multiple identities due to the number of roles I fill and the number of projects I participate in. I often find that I inadvertently send email with the wrong identity because I forget to change from the default, or because I am in a folder that has an identity attached and forget to change back from the default.

The problem here is that having the only indicator of identity being text in the signature and in the headers doesn't put it in your face enough to reduce the probability of errors.

A side effect of some spam laws is that there could be untoward consequences from using the wrong identity to send a particular message.

It would therefore be useful to be able to customise the background of the message entry box in composer according to the identity. I can see three options that would be of value in this regard:

1. Configuring the color of the background (which would also require a facility to change the color of the foreground in case a personality has a dark background) on a per identity;
2. Allowing the user to specify a watermark graphic that can either be stretched, tiled, centred, left aligned, top aligned, and so on; and
3. Allowing a graphic to be placed alongside the headers, in a space sufficiently large that you can't fail to miss it.

Thus when sending email using the work personality, I might have the company logo tiled as a watermark graphic in composer. When sending to the WINE mailing lists, the wine logo. When sending in a capacity in another organisation, I might have one of that organisation's livery colors as the background color, and another of the livery colors as the foreground color. When sending in a personal capacity, I might have my mug shot as the watermark (perhaps not, but you no doubt get the idea).
