The text above look like a escerpt from a ~/.xsession-errors file. This is the file KDE redirects its standard output to, and the file is not owned or directly used by kate. Kate will not try to save your file, unless you ask it to, crash or not. Data loss is allways serious, the data loss is worse than the crash. But i'm afraid we can't do much about this without more information, other than be alert on the case if we ever get similar issues. Ive never heard of anything like it before though.

hi anders

luckily i had an up to date backup and only lost one evenings work
its all been rewritten now (this time it doesn't crash)

more info that might be relevent:

allegro 4.0.3
allegrog 0.1.4
(both built from source)

the filesystem is reiserfs

i guess you know the kde & kate versions
they both came with mandrake 9.1

linux kernel version 2.4.21-0.13mdk

let me know what other information might be useful

i have not yet managed to reproduce the bug i will keep trying

thank you

(@_,'
//\
V_/_

Crazy About Penguins - http://www.epenguin.cjb.net.
___________________________________________________________
Get your own Web-based E-mail Service at http://www.zzn.com

I am sorry too, for your problems, but have no idea either what might have caused it :/ Would propose to update to kde 3.2.x if possible and retest (as many other known bugs are fixed at least in that version) will close this bug in some weeks if nobody else can reproduce it expire, nobody else can reproduce it, and really no idea how the message output can to into the file

i've tested the ram i was using at the time
and one dimm has a fault.

the ram has been upgraded to ddr ages ago

and the old dimms have been stored and handled well

but i assembled pc from the spares and it failed memtest

i reckon bug 78451

is just early symptom of memory failure

not a bug at all

(o_
//\
V_/_

Crazy About Penguins - http://www.epenguin.cjb.net.
___________________________________________________________
Get your own Web-based E-mail Service at http://www.zzn.com

|
