Version:           3.0.1 (using KDE 3.2.1, Gentoo)
Compiler:          gcc version 3.3.2 20031218 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.2-r5, propolice-3.3-7)
OS:          Linux (i686) release 2.6.3-gentoo-r1

I was testing kdevelop while my machine was under a heavy load. Creating the projects took quite some time, but I couldn't tell what kdevelop was actually doing. In the messages window, I saw a "creating ..." message, but I assumed it finished everything, and I already tried out some other menu options. (because the automake option didn't seam to do a lot)

I opened a konsole, and noticed that some autotool was, in fact running!
That's the main reason why I think it's a good idea to provide more visual feedback about the build process. The menu items for example, could be grayed, and the title bar could indicate something like "Kdevelop - building project".

It does provide more feedback, all you need to do is to RMB in the output view and select "full compiler output"

On a side note, is is possible to make the "Automake & friends" stuff more verbose by default? This would solve the issue as well.

we can't get autotools to be more verbose, you'd have to file that upstream. Other than that I think this is fixed.
