Which protocol(s) are you referring to? Does it matter? The documentation and menus show no means of sending a message without the target being on a contact list. FWIW, the particular protocol in question was Yahoo [YIM]. But again: This feature is, for practical purposes, just not available. And again, any instant messaging client which doesn't permit sending messages to people not on the contact list is pretty much useless with regard to the way people use IM clients. Yes, it does matter. Leave the judgment about which questions need to be answered to the developers, please. And, FWIW, it does not help you anything if you flame here - you have a wish, we might or might not implement it. Kopete is not a service nor a right, it's something we do for fun in our spare time. You'd help us more with a patch than with a rant. Man, if you think that's flaming, you need to get out more. Ive been a developer, too, guys, and in the world I come from, if the requirements are bad (and the requirements were obviously bad, here), that's a problem. Don't make excuses for it; fix it. Yeah sure. reopening, because if nobody else will do it, I will Thank you. I am certain that this will make Kopete more usable -- particularly for business users, who often have to use IM to deal with clients, potential clients, and momentary working partners who they do not wish to have on a contact list (and whose contact lists they don't want to be on). Calling Kopete a "completely useless" piece of software qualifies as flaming to me. Answering a simple question with "does it matter" does not show any interest in really wanting to helping out. There was no arrogance involved, at least not from our/my side. I don't doubt that your wish is useful, I consider it to be missing feature, too. However, we're not getting paid or anything. The exchange in receiving a free piece of software could at least be a bit of modesty in communicating with those who give it to you. I like discussing with users, I don't like them judging the quality of my software by features they miss. Anyway, this is not the place for such a discussion at all. Err.. This seem to be a duplicate of #70048.
