Description Martin Koller 2004-03-18 10:24:44 UTC
Version: 1.6.1 (using KDE 3.2 BRANCH >= 20040204, compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc version 3.2.3
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.22

I received an email which contains a .rar file.
The icon used for displaying the attachment does show the "unknown" icon (a large questionmark), but when I save the file e.g. in /tmp, open /tmp in konqueror, I then see the correct icon for the filetype.
Also, when clicking on that file, kmail asks to open this file with "Ark" (so it seems kmail _can_ detect the filetype)

I assume this is due to the fact, that the mail itself states that the attachment is
Content-Type: application/octet-stream; name="Entwurf_5_1.rar"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

Still, kmail should also use the same mechanisms as konqueror to detect the icon/filetype to show.

Reported as bug 35836 for KDE 2.2, patch supplied there.
Closed as FIXED, but the fix is not in KDE 3.2.1 or CVS.
