Sentry Crash Report:

Description Daniel 2004-02-24 15:43:40 UTC
Version: 1.5.4 (using KDE 3.1.5)
Installed from: (testing/unstable)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 20031229 (prerelease) (Debian)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.24-ck1-1

When retrieving messages into folders using fetchmail/procmail the new messages do not appear in kmail. Mutt has some way of checking new messages in a mailbox and they will appear, sometimes after a short delay. But it also has a mailbox synchronization feature (CTRL-$) whereby one can force it to re-read the current mailbox. kmail does not have such a feature and does not work as well with fetchmail.
