Description Jaakko Holster 2004-02-19 09:29:45 UTC
Version: 1.6 (using KDE 3.2.0, Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.2.3 20030422 (Gentoo Linux 1.4 3.2.3-r1, propolice)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.2

System tray indicator does not keep in synchronization with kmail. It often displays 1 unread mail, even though kmail displays no unread mail in any folder (expect trash, but it seems that systray indicator excludes trash folder anyway). Restarting kmail fixes the problem for a while.

can't confirm that bug, icon is changed immediately when new mail arrives or mail got read.

but i didn't try imap folders, just pop3 accounts
Comment 2 Martin Köbele 2004-02-24 20:51:16 UTC
I experience that problem when kontact/kmail/kde/X crashed, which basically means that it happens when kmail didn't quit properly. In this case I get wrong numbers on the systray-icon. I use pop3.
Comment 3 bucknaked 2004-07-13 16:56:04 UTC
I also experience this problem. However, I'm experiencing this using imap.
Comment 4 Carsten Burghardt 2004-07-14 11:12:21 UTC
Please test this with kdepim 3.3.
Comment 5 Reinier Haasjes 2004-11-17 09:22:13 UTC
Tested with kdepim-3.3.1-0.5.2.kde (FC2) and sysbar showed 1 and on both m y email account (both imap) I had 1 new message (so it should show 2).
After a restart the sysbar showed 2.
I have a few folders marked "Ignore new mail in this folder" but not the two folders I had new mail in.
Comment 6 Amand Tihon 2005-02-16 20:26:57 UTC
Tested with Debian Sid's kdepim 3.3.2-1 and kmail 3.3.2-1.
With imap folders, the systray often indicates fewer unread mails than it should. As if one or more sub-folders weren't taken into account.

Yes, that's it. The systray icon isn't updated when emails come into the currently selected folder.

Kmail 1.8.2
I have pop as well as imap accounts configred with kmail. The system tray icon doesn't report the correct new mails in the imap accounts. The pop account works correctly. The number of mails in imap accounts are doubled. So if I have one new mail, two is reported and if 2 then four are reported.

Hope this helps
Comment 10 Neil Gierman 2005-12-30 04:11:54 UTC
Kmail 1.8.3 (KDE 3.4.3) still showing issue. When new mail comes into currently selected folder, systray is not updated with new unread email count.

KMail 1.9.1 (KDE 3.5.2) : the bug seems to have been corrected.
The number shown in my tray icon is always correct, even when new mails arrive in the selected imap folder.

Can anybody else confirm this?

I've checked this with KMail from KDE SVN r881890 (to be in KDE 4.2). It appears to be working fine here, but I can only test with POP accounts. Someone with IMAP should check it out again.

Considering fixed as long no one states the opposite
