Sentry Crash Report:

Description Michael Schuerig 2004-02-14 08:41:57 UTC
Version: 1.2.0 (using KDE 3.1.5)
Installed from: (testing/unstable)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 20031229 (prerelease) (Debian)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.2

In essence, I want the functionality of a Sensor Logger without having to run the ksysguard. Possibly from within the applet or a commandline client.

More precisely, there are some sensors I'd like to monitor, though I really don't want to look at their values myself all the time. Instead, I want to be notified when a limit is exceeded or a script says there's something wrong with a value.

Most of this is already there in the Sensor Logger. From looking at the code I got the impression that currently this generic functionality is closely intertwined with GUI code, though, but the pieces are there. What's missing (from the KDE code base in general, AFAICT) is a way to embed scripts in arbitrary languages in an application.

Hi,
Sorry we haven't responded to this for .. well years.

Finally for KDE4 we hope to have this functinality. In fact there's a program already that does just this in a branch.

ksysguard is no longer maintained, in Plasma 6 there is the Plasma system monitor for this task.

If your wish is still valid for the Plasma 6 replacement, please re-open and we can move this bug to the new product, thanks!
