Description steve 2004-02-12 11:07:08 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.0)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc 3.3.1
OS: Solaris

When managing a large multi-user system with a shared KDE installation it is important for the administrator to be able to manipulate the Kmenu to add, remove or change items.

Hence, an administrator mode for kmenuedit would be a highly desirable addition to its functionality. Currently, administrators have to manually edit the contents of the directories which is not at all satisfactory.

(Note: In KDE 1.x it was possible to do this by setting the KDEHOME environment variable to the root directory of the KDE installation but even this functionality was lost in the transition to KDE 2.x. Even reinstating this would go a long way in helping sysadmins manage their systems.)
