I've seen a number of requests like this, which have been closed, due to support for disconnected IMAP. Another rationale for an easily accessed "offline mode" is for handling intermittent network failure (e.g., my DSL connection has been unreliable lately and the error messages are getting annoying. I'd like a simple toggle button or menu item to temporarily halt interval checking until I know the net is back up).
