When the option "show removed tiles" is set and a game is
saved, the removed tiles are not saved. When you reload the game, the area with the removed tiles is not updated at all.

Try starting a game, saving it, removing a pair of tiles, reloading the game, removing the same tiles, etc. You'll get a very high stack of tiles on the right.
