Sentry Crash Report:

Description cb-kde 2004-01-19 10:24:21 UTC
Version: (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
OS: Linux

Changing the view mode causes the currently viewed file to be downloaded again.

To reproduce:
go to a web page, for example http://slashdot.org/
Press view, view mode, Embedded advanced text editor
Observe KIO download window: page is re-downloaded.

Expected behaviour:
The page displayed is directly transferred to the new Kpart which is used for displaying.

Additional:
This is particularly irritating for viewing media files, such as JPEGs and PDFs as these can be many megabytes in size, and if the viewer needs to be changed the only solution is to download the file again which takes a long time.

Cross-reference:
Possibly related to problem where View Source would cause the page to be re-downloaded.
