Description Rene Androsch 2004-01-17 17:03:48 UTC
Version: 1.5.4 (using KDE KDE 3.1.5)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.2 20031218 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.2-r5, propolice-3.3-7)
OS: Linux

This feature request is similar to Bug 43218, but goes in a different direction.

A working example of the is MS Outlook Express and MS Outloo 2003! (Mozilla Mail 1.5 is doning it also not the way I need and want it).

Okay: here is the scenario:
I have several pop3 accounts, where I download my email from.
Since I do this in several location, I leave the emails on the pop3 server.
Since I got a lot of spam, I've in nearly all locations SpamAssassin installed.
When SpamAssassin marks a email as spam, it is put into a different folder, so that I can later on have a look at it.
When I delete the spam, it is put into the trash folder.

(Now comes the part that works in MS Outlook, but not in KMail, Mozilla, Sylpheed-claws ...)

When I empty my trash, next time I check for email, MS Outlook (and Express) will delete emails from the pop3 server that was deleted form the trash.
This allows me, to save all good email on the server, but delete all spam, without any extra work for me. Okay, if I delete good email, it will also be removed on the server.

Doing it in this way, allows me to have all my good email on the server. If a harddrive crashes, or some "nice" guy, deleted my email locally, I can easily redownload it. And web-based email also works great, since all good mails are accessable.

Mozilla has a feature called: Delete email from server, when remove from the inbox. This is not exactly want I need. Since I organize my email in may folders and not in the inbox!

So it must be: Delete email from pop3 server, when email was deleted form trash.

BTW: I have now KDE 3.1.5 (gentoo ebuild) and I tried a newer KDE version (I think 3.1.94 or 3.1.95) with SLAX-3.0.25-2 with the newer KMail, and it didn't had an option like this!
