Sentry Crash Report:

Description Dik Takken 2004-01-14 19:33:16 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.94)
OS: Linux

How to reproduce:

* Open KStars.
* Create a print preview of the screen.

When I do this, X starts consuming all the CPU power it can get. The system gets very unresponsive, mouse cursor jumping and so on. As soon as you close the print preview, the problem is gone.

This bug is only reproducable when you don't have the DRI module loaded. Should it work without DRI?

The things I have tested:

NVidia Closed Source: Works
NVidia Open Source with DRI: Works
NVidia Open Source without DRI: Trouble
Comment 2 kstars 2004-01-15 17:41:55 UTC
We use the standard KDE print dialog, so this isn't a kstars bug. Reassigning to kdeprint.
Comment 3 Michael Goffioul 2004-02-24 10:53:51 UTC
- put the system in the configuration where you would have the problem (DRI module loaded)
- from KStars, print to a PS file
- view the PS file with kghostview
Do you still have the problem?

UNCONFIRMED (batch reassigning messed this)
Comment 5 Cristian Tibirna 2005-09-24 05:24:09 UTC
I suppose (bad! suppose bad!) that this is a performance problem in kghostview part, related to very large bitmaps being displayed.

I still wait for an answer from the original reporter as of what happens when following doing the test requested by Michael.

I'm closing this bug report now due to timeout for requested feedback by reporter.

Dik, feel free to re-open this report if it is still bugging you. (and include the version of your CUPS + Ghostscript packages).

Unfortunately, I don't have a way to test with NVidia.

Closing old Resolved status bug.
