I've noticed that some Gnome apps systray icons look great on KDE (e.g. liferea or acme).

KMail seems not to comply with the Freedesktop System Tray Protocol Specification [http://freedesktop.org/Standards/systemtray-spec/systemtray-spec-0.1.html], so the systray icon appears as an individual window when KMail is run from a Gnome desktop.

kdetrayproxy (http://ktown.kde.org/~seli/kdewm) allows also this.
