Some ISPs do not require username/password-based authentication, in fact, some doesn't authenticate its users at all (we have one in Norway, start.no). 

I have configured my KPPP to work with a couple of ISPs that I dial up to occasionally,(the above mentioned and my GPRS provider) and I'd like to contribute my config back to KPPP. However, setting up a file for the use by the Wizard was confusing, mainly because it seems to require that you set a username and password, which is not needed by these ISPs. It will just confuse users to ask for it, and asking for it means dialogues the user has no interest in, so it is a Bad Thing[tm]. 

I've asked on the kde-list if there was a workaround, but none came up with anything I haven't tried. I currently use a per-user manual config rather than the Wizard setup because of this, because it works better in everyday use.

I therefore ask for a configuration option to make the Wizard setup not prompt for username and password, it will come in handy when connecting to ISPs that doesn't use username/password authentication.

I'm not 100% positive about this, but AFAICS, the behaviour of KPPP setup wizard seems unchanged in 3.2.2.

I strongly agree with this. It took me time to figure out that I need to enter any garbabe in the username to have kppp try to connect. ALL ISP's in Saudi Arabia now works without authentication vai username and password. They just send the bills to the phone number that dials.
