The Kppp logviewer (for kppp version 2.1.2) does not seem to work. It does not display any logs at all for my connection. I noticed that the volume field in my account edit dialog displays the amount of data downloaded correctly since I had set the Accounting option to true, with "Bytes In & Out" as the accounging option.

However, when I click on view logs (or start kppplogviewer) i get a dialog with no log information. There is a combo box with "All Connections" as its value, but the log is empty, with the message "No Connection Log for December 2003 available" (This is despite the fact that I see the volume of data transferred to be over 180 Mb !!) I tried to dig in a little further and noticed that the directory ~/.kde/share/apps/kppp/Log under my home directory is empty, thus probably explaining why there is no log information. However I would like logging to be turned on, if it is possible. It seems to be a very useful feature.

I just got the log to show up. Basically I realized that if you turn on accounting - and select a telecom provider from the list, you get the accounting turned on.

I think that a user should be able to enable logging even if they do not have any need for dollar accounting. For example, in the united states I do not have any charges for local calling, yet I would like to see my input/output bytes statistics.

This project is unfortunately no longer maintained.

If a new maintainer wants to step up and take care, the project is archived here:

https://invent.kde.org/unmaintained/kppp

You can just clone it in your private namespace on invent.kde.org and if you have started to work on it and fixed/implemented something get it reviewed and the project unarchived.
