*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 67271 *** I get this bug using KDE-3.2beta2? WTF? Is the debian unstable compiler to blame? I get the same symptoms all the others describe, though. The workarounds for other KDE-3.2b1 do not apply for me. The menu files are where they should be, naturally since I have manually compiled KDE-3.2b2 using konstruct on DEbian unstable. I have already erased KDEHOME and rebuild ksycoca several times. Look at the output of this: #locate .menu|grep -v debian/ /etc/mc/mc.menu /etc/X11/rxvt.menu /etc/X11/xfce/debian.menu /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu /etc/xdg/menus/applications-merged/kde-essential.menu /etc/xdg/menus/kde-information.menu /etc/xdg/menus/kde-screensavers.menu /etc/xdg/menus/kde-settings.menu /home/moritz/.config/menus/applications-kmenuedit.menu /home/moritz/kde3.2-beta2/etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu /home/moritz/kde3.2-beta2/etc/xdg/menus/applications-merged/kde-essential.menu /home/moritz/kde3.2-beta2/etc/xdg/menus/kde-information.menu /home/moritz/kde3.2-beta2/etc/xdg/menus/kde-screensavers.menu /home/moritz/kde3.2-beta2/etc/xdg/menus/kde-settings.menu /home/moritz/Sources/konstruct/kde/kdebase/work/kdebase-3.1.94/applnk/kde-essential.menu /home/moritz/Sources/konstruct/kde/kdebase/work/kdebase-3.1.94/applnk/kde-information.menu /home/moritz/Sources/konstruct/kde/kdebase/work/kdebase-3.1.94/applnk/kde-screensavers.menu /home/moritz/Sources/konstruct/kde/kdebase/work/kdebase-3.1.94/applnk/kde-settings.menu /home/moritz/Sources/konstruct/kde/kdelibs/work/kdelibs-3.1.94/kded/applications.menu /usr/bin/imazesrv.menu /usr/share/doc/docbook-xsl/doc/fo/menuchoice.menu.separator.html /usr/share/doc/docbook-xsl/doc/html/htmlhelp.show.menu.html /usr/share/doc/docbook-xsl/doc/html/menuchoice.menu.separator.html /usr/share/doc/docbook-xsl/params/htmlhelp.show.menu.xml /usr/share/doc/docbook-xsl/params/menuchoice.menu.separator.xml /usr/share/doc/rxvt-beta/examples/example.menu.gz /usr/share/doc/rxvt-beta/examples/rxvt.menu.gz /usr/share/doc/rxvt-beta/examples/terminal.menu.gz /usr/share/doc/rxvt-beta/README.menu.gz /usr/share/doc/w3m/ja/README.menu /usr/share/mc/cedit.menu /usr/share/mc/mc.menu /usr/share/sgml/docbook/stylesheet/xsl/nwalsh/params/htmlhelp.show.menu.xml /usr/share/sgml/docbook/stylesheet/xsl/nwalsh/params/menuchoice.menu.separator.xml Using Debian Sid with beta2 compiled using konstruct $ locate .menu|grep -v debian/ /etc/mc/mc.menu /etc/X11/WindowMaker/appearance.menu /etc/X11/WindowMaker/background.menu /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu /etc/xdg/menus/applications-merged/kde-essential.menu /etc/xdg/menus/kde-information.menu /etc/xdg/menus/kde-screensavers.menu /etc/xdg/menus/kde-settings.menu ... bash-2.05b# dpkg -S /etc/xdg/menus/kde-settings.menu kdebase-data: /etc/xdg/menus/kde-settings.menu bash-2.05b# apt-get remove --purge kdebase-data and it works now Problem is reported to be resolved by reporter.
