in the tabbed-page gui mode I need to click inside the window first to close it. Just clickin on the tab until the window appears and then closing in (in menu or ctrl-w) doesn't work.

This is actually the same problem as Bug #67877, so it should be fixed (for 3.2) in CVS now.

KDE-3.1/3.0 might be a while longer..
