Description Brian Visel 2003-11-07 15:14:35 UTC
Version: unknown (using KDE 3.1.4)
Installed from: Gentoo
Compiler: gcc version 3.2.3 20030422 (Gentoo Linux 1.4 3.2.3-r2, propolice)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.20-gentoo-r8.b3

When downloading attatchments from yahoo, from the time of clicking on the link:

<click 'Download Attatchment' link>
Dialog box: [Open/save as/cancel] (selecting save as)
Dialog box: Error - KGet: Malformed URL <filename> [ok] (select ok)

<filename> is the name of whatever file it is that I'm presently trying to download with this process.

Upon retry, it seems to think the file is still downloading, and gives me a popup download window (0% of 0 B -) which fortunately has the option to trash the download so it's not running around in the background somewhere. :-)

This problem is not unique to one file in my Yahoo account, it happens with multiple files (all that I've tried).

we need a test case. We don't have yahoo accounts - and we won't set one up
to reproduce bug reports ;(

As annoying as it is, it's worthwhile to set one up for khtml developers.
Yahoo mail is quite popular and breaks regularily with khtml. I have one but
I don't have time to make a testcase right now.

Dunno if this will help, but I set up an account. I haven't had any problems with Yahoo's downloads though....

The account info is:
login: khtmldevel
password: <The name of KDE's web authoring tool>

I do have a yahoo account and will try to generate a testcase soonish.

Nice. Fill it with some mails with attachments :)

Greetings, Stephan

done. 4 emails with 4 different attachment types. Reporter, can you be more specific about what kind of downloads your attempting? I just took a random sample of common attachment types (image, doc, pdf and text)

Created yahoo acct:
kdetester
testing

but didn't have the opportunity to post it here 'til now, which is a bit late, I s'pose.. ..anywho..

Both the files there give me the error. Kget ends up with an entry that has the url, but a blank filename (and it doesn't download).

Honestly, I didn't expect so much response so quickly. Thanks guys!

Here's the info on my encounter with the khtmldevel account:
test case 1: png: works fine
test case 2: txt (selecting save as):
Error - kget: malformed url test.txt [ok]: (selecting ok)
kget seems to have the correct URL, but no filename
test case 3: doc (selecting save as): same behaviour as 2
test case 4: pdf: works fine

..Seems like embedded stuff works fine, and that it may only be when kget is called that this messes up..

BTW, it never gets to the point after 'save as' where it asks me for a filename/location, it just immediately gives me the 'malformed url <filename>' where <filename> is the name of the file being attempted.

However, it looks like I may have posted the bug incorrectly - is kget developed by another group than khtml?

Speaking of which, other (non-yahoo) downloads have worked fine.
Comment 8 Matt Rogers 2003-11-30 09:03:01 UTC
so you're using KGet? Does it work if you disable KGet's Konqueror integration?
Comment 9 Waldo Bastian 2003-11-30 16:19:38 UTC
Can't reproduce any problem in CVS HEAD.
Comment 10 Brian Visel 2003-12-01 16:11:39 UTC
Yes, bug no longer shows when KGet's Konqueror integration is disabled, so it's probably in how KGet is handling the URL being sent to it.

Thanks folks!
Comment 11 Matt Rogers 2003-12-01 16:49:58 UTC
this is a kget problem, reassigning.
Comment 12 Waldo Bastian 2003-12-02 16:16:06 UTC
Yes, it's a kget problem, but I can not reproduce it with kget in CVS HEAD.
Comment 13 Rex Dieter 2003-12-02 16:52:59 UTC
Probably a dup of bug #65934 "KGet Error: Malformed URL"
Comment 14 Juan Luis Baptiste 2003-12-02 19:49:11 UTC
I have the same problem with linuxmail and hotmail accounts when kget's konqueror integration is enabled.

Can anyone tell if this bug is still valid in the KDE4-Version?
